 Hosting the 12th Mindanao Super Region Inter-Agency Meeting here has given Representative Antonio H. Cerilles all the chances to articulate his concerns for Zamboanga Peninsula and Mindanao. Congressman Cerilles was seated beside Mindanao Economic Development Council (MEDCO) chairperson-undersecretary Virgilio Leyretana, Sr. together with Governor Aurora E. Cerilles and City Mayor Samuel Co as hosts for the first ever Mindanao-wide inter-agency meeting for Super Regions at Hotel Alindahaw, this city last July 1. |

 “Lumad ako… Igsoon, Kinaiyahan Responsibilidad Ko,” was the guiding slogan for the 54 Subanen tribal leaders and members from Lakewood being trained in natural farming system for sustainable rural development. The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur under Governor Auring E. Cerilles since 2001 has been promoting cassava livelihood program all over the province as a way of poverty alleviation to her constituents. Auring is serving her third and final term as first lady governor is determined that Poverty Alleviation as one of her Administration’s 7-point agenda be extended down to the indigenous peoples in the province. |

Pillars of justice system need to talk |

The Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) now considers the holding of a dialog among the pillars of the Justice System so as to synchronize interpretation of the law especially on drug-related cases. A move that would strengthen the campaign of the provincial leadership for a drug-free Zamboanga del Sur as Governor Aurora E. Cerilles early this year declared war against illegal drugs in protecting the children (and the community) from the bad effects of illegal drugs. PADAC special meeting over a week ago opted to conduct a dialog particularly among the law enforcement officials, city and provincial prosecutors as well as the judges so as to attune the handling drug-related cases among them. |
