FOR THE THIRD TIME in a row, Governor Aurora E. Cerilles has spent a night with the press in the spirit of Christmas. Significantly, this year, she was joined by the pillars of the press along with the adjudged ZPPI newsmakers 2008 and fellow LGU officials supportive to media endeavors. She dubbed it as “A Night with Gov. Auring” held last Dec. 22 at the Prov’l Capitol Conference Hall, the lady governor conveyed her warm yuletide greetings to some 72 members of the Zamboanga del Sur-Pagadian City Press Club, Inc. (ZPPI) led by Elmer Maghanoy of RMN Pagadian DXPR. Since 2006, it has been a tradition for Cerilles to host a Christmas party to the media. |

Eyeing the impact of global recession to hit the country in 2009, Congressman Antonio H. Cerilles advised the agriculture sector to redouble its effort by creating own employment to cushion the blow of global economic crisis in the country. Cerilles made this statement before the provincial government officials headed by his wife Governor Auring and employees on their Christmas Party dubbed as “Pasko Nato sa Kapitolyo” last December 19. The second district representative pointed out that the Philippines is banking on manpower services through sending overseas Filipino workers, majority are domestic helpers. With the global financial crisis that hit America, United Kingdom, Germany and Japan, a mass of OFWs will be forced to go home. Hence, unemployment in the country will increase. |

The lady governor plays santa claus to the senior citizens early this week as she distributes gift certificates worth P200 each along with wrapped Christmas gifts to the senior citizens during their Christmas party at Balgu Building here, early this week. “It is better to give than to receive,” Governor Aurora E. Cerilles told to some 200 elderly men and women in their 60s and above who are officials in municipal association of senior citizens from the different municipalities across the province. The governor lauded the active participation of the senior citizens in their respective municipalities she considered them as role models and influential in community. |
