Poultry and Livestock
The decreasing population of carabao and cattle
was attributed to the prevalence of furra disease that plagued in
some areas of the province. Some of this livestock were untimely
sold and slaughtered by raisers. Hogs and goats are increasing in
2001 due to the massive dispersal program of the Provincial and
National Government as well as the Non-Government Organization.
The Provincial Government with the Department of Agriculture also
dispersed cattle and chickens. (Table 5-4)
Livestock and poultry raising were undertaken mostly
on backyard scales. However, there are commercial raisers within
Pagadian City by contract growing through RFM and SWIFT Companies.
