Mining and Quarrying
Mining
Based on the report reflected in the compilation
of Philippine Metallic & Non-metallic Ore Research, Bureau of
Mines and Geosciences, Manila in 1981, the province contains vast
deposits of metallic and non-metallic minerals (Table 5-9). The
tapped mineral reserves are marble, clay, sand and gravel and gold.
The mining or tapping of these minerals are classified to small
scale industry particularly the gold.

Sand and Gravel Quarrying
The Province had 33 permittees operating in the
quarry sites of Labangan, Mahayag, Dumingag, Bayog, R. Magsaysay
and Tambulig (Table 5-10). At present, the Provincial Government
requires the concessionaire to submit the Environmental Compliance
Certificate (ECC) before the permit would be given to them.
