In addition to the natives of the place, early settlers of the Province were mixtures of the migrants from Visayas, Luzon and the neighboring provinces in Mindanao.

Several dialects are used as medium of expression and communication. Among these, Cebuano topped at 73.85% followed by Subanen at 10.62 % and Boholano at 1.71 % while other are of various tribes from Luzon, Visayas and ethnic groups in Mindanao. These estimates were revealed on the previous census conducted (1980, 1990 & 1995). Other tribes are now adopting the dominating Cebuano dialect.
