Land Suitability

Land suitability refers to the classification of land into categories based on the degree to which the characteristics of the land can satisfy the environmental requirements of specific crops without deterioration.

Based on the land suitability criteria, land is categorized into six (6), namely: Areas for irrigated rice/fishpond, cultivated annual crops, perennial tree and vine crops, pastures/grasslands, plantation and production forest. Majority of the land is suitable for plantation with about 1,619.12 sq. km, followed with the land suitable for perennial tree and vine crops of 723.71 sq. km. The land suitable for pastures/grasslands has the lowest rate at 582.78 sq. km only. (Table 2-5)
