The new Miss Zamboanga del Sur 2009 was crowned.

This year’s Miss Zamboanga del Sur Pageant was truly a spectacular event of the year. 24 candidates vie for the 3 major awards this year : Miss Zamboanga del Sur 2009, Miss ZamboSur Tourism 2009 and Miss ZamboSur Culture and Arts 2009.

The Play Suit and Long Gown Competition were held during the Formal Opening Program of Megayon Festival 2009 on September 11, 2009. Atty. Ivan Patrick Ang (ZaNorte Tourism Officer), Annavic Joy Lao (Sibugay Tourism Officer) and DOT Regional Director James Eldridge Adrainchem were the Board of Judges during this pre-judging event.

Talent Competition was held on September 12, 2009 and was judged by Edik Dolotina (Cebu City), Rodiolan Porlas (Dapitan Tourism Officer) and Grace Abdon (Cagayan de Oro City).

The Final Pageant and Coronation Night, graced by Marie Razel Eguia, Miss Philippines Earth 2008, was held on September 13, 2009. The 24 candidates were judged by Rhoda Zaportiza (Miss Ozamiz Tourism 2007), Jazzel Gay Abella (Miss Iligan Tourism 2005), Charlie Cojuangco, Gerardo Ledonio III and Jose Mari Martinez (President of Philippine Football Federation).

Merte Gay Soronio was proclaimed Best In Talent. Gretchen Mae Ayco was judged as Best in Play Suit. Jenny Joy Adorador was awarded Best in Long Gown. Jeany Rose Joromat was proclaimed as Best in Ethnic-Inspired Wear. Other awardees were Gretchen Mae Ayco as Miss Professionalism, Michelle Briones as Miss Photogenic, Jenny Joy Adorador as Miss Popular and Dina Pacas as Miss Friendship. Negros Navigation awarded Negros Navigation Princess to Gretchen Mae Ayco.

And the final pageant winners are : Rachel Olarte (Mahayag – SK Provincial Federation) as Miss ZamboSur 2009 2nd Princess; Jhemma Gomez (Margosatubig – Liga ng mga Barangay ZDS) as Miss ZamboSur 2009 1st Princess; Jenny Joy Adorador (Vincenzo Sagun - PPTS) as Miss ZamboSur Culture and Arts 2009; Gretchen Mae Ayco (Dumingag – BJMP RO IX) as Miss ZamboSur Tourism 2009 and Jeany Rose Joromat (Pagadian City - PhilHealth) as the Miss Zamboanga del Sur 2009.

Governor Aurora Enerio Cerilles, Congressman Victor J. Yu, Congressman Antonio H. Cerilles and Miss Marie Razel Eguia awarded and crowned the new Miss Zamboanga del Sur.

All pageant nights were held at the newly-inaugurated Megayon Stage inside the Agri-tourism and Heritage Complex, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian City. The coronation night was hosted by Sheila Leonardo, the 2002 Miss Zamboanga del Sur. It was choreographed by Cesar “Bebot” Patromo and directed by Felimon Blanco.
