Dwelling Units
There is no updated data on housing in the province
and the latest is the 1990 census.
For the censal periods 1980 and 1990, majority
of the households were occupying single houses. The rest lived in
duplex, multi-unit residences, improvised structures or barong-barong,
commercial/industrial/agricultural, and other types of buildings.
With the development and improvement of farm to market roads, provincial
and national highway, majority of dwelling units in the rural areas
are also improved.
Housing Development Projects
The Province, as well as the City Government, launched
socialized housing programs for the populace. There are also other
socialized housing projects under BP 220 and RA 7279 that are implemented
by private developers. The municipalities of Mahayag, Molave and
Dumalinao have already existing sub-divisions while others are still
on their land acquisition and proposing housing programs to the
National Housing Authority (NHA).
Pagadian City on her desire to become a regional
center in Region IX has implemented and proposed several socialized
housing projects. Existing housing projects have expanded their
development and there are private developers also started developing
their respective areas. (Table 6-25)
