NCIP initiates advocacy on RA 8371 to IP stakeholders |

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) conducted an Advocacy on Republic Act 8371 (RA 8371) to the members and leaders of the Subanen tribes from the Municipalities of Kumalarang and Lakewood.
The activity was held at the Bulwagan ng Kabataan, Provincial Government Center last March 2, 2010.
NCIP Regional Director Abdul Puengan explained on the rights of the IPs in the region, which is declared under RA 8371 signed into law in 1997 by then President Fidel Ramos.

LAKAS – KAMPI CMD presidential bet Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro paid visit to Zamboanga del Sur for a candidate – electorate forum last February 24, 2010 at the Amusement and Events Center, Provincial Capitol Compound, Pagadian City.
Present in the event were provincial officials led by Governor Aurora Enerio–Cerilles, Congressman Antonio Cerilles, Congressman Victor Yu, local officials from the different municipalities in the province spearheaded by League of Municipalities President Ace William Cerilles, and Pagadian City officials, led by Mayor Samuel Co, under the administration party.

A showcase of talents from the province’s pride this National Arts Month is set to wow audience as Zamboanga del Sur launches ZALIWAN: The 1st ZamboSur Arts Festival through the Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Office (PTCAO).
An opening ceremony was held last February 19, 2010 at Gaisano Capital Pagadian Events Center.
Students of the Zamboanga del Sur National High School Himig Chorale showcased their talents and skills in a rondalla concert dubbed as “Cuerdas”. The spotlight was also shared to the Pagadian Montessori Arts Guild as they belted out their singing gifts at a choral concert tagged as “Sari-Saring Tinig.”
