This year, the UE Law celebrated their 65th anniversary and Grand Alumni Homecoming with the theme: “UE Law @ 65 United for Change” last November 4, 2016 at Century Park Hotel wherein a lot of alumni from different batches attended the said event. It was organized by the UE-College of Law Alumni Association, Inc. headed by their Alumni President Atty. Nicolas B. Nicolas.

Prominent persons with impressive accomplishments from different side of the country received the awards as the Most Outstanding Alumni of UE-College of Law and two of the awardees of the said event are the pride of Zamboanga del Sur, Governor Antonio H. Cerilles and his wife Congw. Aurora Enerio-Cerilles. They are alumni of the said school and the couple received a plaque of Special Recognition for their outstanding accomplishments in the field of Politics thus bringing honor and prestige to their Alma Mater.

The University of the East College of Law or UE Law is the law school of the University of the East, a private, non-sectarian university in Manila, Philippines. It was established in July 1950. Dr. Francisco T. Dalupan, Sr., then the University President, temporarily assumed the position of the first Dean of the College. Justice Roman Ozaeta, a former Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and Secretary of Justice under Presidents Manuel Roxas and Elpidio Quirino, was appointed Dean in SY 1951-1952.

In addition, Dean Ozaeta steered the College to a desirable position through rigid discipline. The enrollment grew and a complete law curriculum was offered, with prominent members of the Bench and Bar as faculty members. He also promoted scholarship and encouraged academic proficiency in Law.

During the said program, the Alumni Association awarded the outstanding alumni who contributed excellent performance in the society and they also showcased their achievements in their different fields.

At the moment, the Zambosurians can justify that the Cerilles couple really deserve the said award since the encouraging developments of the province have become possible only because of the purpose and actions of the two leaders and through them, change for the better has no doubt becomes a reality.
