JHCSC Molding Successful Professionals Through the Years

“Imbued with Right Competencies and Attitudes: The Hallmark of a True JHCSCian” is this year’s theme for the JHCSC 18th Commencement Exercises. It encourages the graduates to be successful in their chosen carriers with the right competencies and attitude that JHCSC has instilled in their mind. It reminds them that a true JHCSCian is a competent and skilled professional who possesses the value of respect, integrity, professionalism and humility.

A total of 2,765 graduates of JHCSC who successfully completed their chosen degree, Two thousand one hundred fifty-one (2,151) of which completed the four (4) year course and six hundred fourteen (614) completed their two (2) year course.

Among these graduates, 18 of them excel in their different fields from different municipalities with an average grade not less than 2 and graduated as Cum Laude. These awardees are Dorothy Bernardo, Mary Jean Angcot, John Mark Paragat and Marliza Canlom of Molave ESU, Jeanica Paragas and Hazel Huminis of Lapuyan ESU, Lea Bontuyan of Mahayag ESU, Nelian Abay and Ruby Cadutdut of Tukuran ESU, Alberto Aldo Jr., Jonie Mar Gaviola and Darwin Jay Bongo of San Pablo ESU, Marielle Arcino and Maricel Diamante of Bayog ESU, Rhana Marie Torres of Margosatubig ESU, Resilfe Bontuyan of Ramon Magsaysay ESU, Mariecris Redula of V-Sagun ESU and Jaybie Tejada of JHCSC Main Campus.

In an exclusive interview with some of the graduates, they expressed their heartfelt thanks to the man behind the foundation of JHCSC, the Provincial Governor Antonio H. Cerilles who established a tertiary education right at the doorstep of their municipalities.

One of the graduates is Vicky Nadela of Tabina ESU share her story as a student and at the same time, a wife and a mother of four children. According to her, it is not easy to be in her situation and money is their everyday dilemma since her children are also studying. They have to spend accurately the income of her husband to fit in their daily needs and JHCSC Tabina ESU is a big blessing for her to pursue her college education.

Another successful product of JHCSC is Mard Ornopia, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at JHCSC Main Campus, Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. She was left at the DSWD Office by her parents when she was still young and she did not even know her real name and identity. Twelve years ago, she was fortunately adapted by Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Medico, a couple from San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur and sent to JHCSC Main Campus to let her finish her study. She never thought that she will experience the feeling of being successful because she is an orphan and now she is thankful to all the people behind her success.

The said commencement exercise was graced by CHED Commissioner and JHCSC BOT Chairperson Dr. Minella Alarcon as the Commencement Speaker. On her message, she emphasized the meaning of “success” and how to achieve it. She encouraged the graduates to give their best in everything they do because JHCSC trained them to become successful in life. She also mentioned some of successful products of the school like Ms. Lilian Albarico who recently received an award as Most Outstanding Teacher in China. Another is Ms. Stella Ogabang, the school principal of Cogon National High School, Cogon, Vincenzu Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur and Atty. Felix Escalante, a product of JHCSC College of Law and the present Provincial Legal Officer of the province.

The JHCSC graduates are the living legacy that proves that quality education does not need to be expensive and that poverty is never a hindrance in achieving life goals.
