The province of Zamboanga del Sur is expected to host the Palarong Pambansa very soon. Being the first in the Philippines to have a Sports Academy and Sports Complex, the province, through Governor Antonio H. Cerilles was asked by the Department of Education not to wait for the year 2019 to bid to host the Palarong Pambansa.

Despite what the Governor have said in a meeting with DEPED officials that the province will be ready to host in 2019, the Department of Education insisted that the province is more than ready to host said event this coming 2018.

During the Zamboanga del Sur Sports Academy Graduation and Moving Up Ceremony the governor clarified that though the Department of Education asked him regarding the hosting of the Palaro Pambansa this coming 2018, there are still some facilities to be added in the Zamboanga del Sur Sports Academy to cater for more sports events and to accommodate more athletes and other participants.

That is why Governor Antonio Cerilles, together with other Officials of the province, went to Antique where the 2017 Palarong Pambansa was held to observe their facilities and to know what the zamboanga del sur sports academy is lacking. This is to make sure, according to him, that the province is ready and capable enough to host the Palaro.

Governor Cerilles pointed out that if he observes that the province is ready, they will not second guess in hosting said prestigious event. But if he sees that there is still lacking, the province will not hastily host the event to avoid inconvenience on the part of the visiting participants.

In his own words, he said, “let us leave a good impression, a good imprint in their mind that they’re happy on what the province have prepared for them”.
