Beauty has varied throughout time, various cultures and the vast different perceptions of the world. It has been described and represented through pictures and concepts penetrating our minds. Beauty has been defined in so many ways, but Mrs. Philippines 2016 Dra. Helen Abayon Maño defines that beauty is happiness. She stated that when you are happy inside, which means you have a pretty mind, pretty heart and soul, it will reflect outside and true beauty will be seen by the people looking at you.

Mrs. Philippines 2016 is a national competition for married women, where the winner will be the official representative of the country to the Mrs. Asia International that will be happen next year at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This pageant promotes women as symbols of inspiration through their achievements, charitable acts and life stories by bringing out their strengths and encouraging them to be the best version of themselves.

The said competition was participated by different married women all over the country and in an interview in the TV Program “Pakisayod sa Zamboanga del Sur”, Dra. Helen Maño, a true-blooded Zambosurian and a Pediatrician at Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center share her experience as she was chosen to represent Mindanao through her pictures that was posted on Manila’s Best Dressed social media page. Manila’s Best Dressed is a group of elite men and women in the country that were recognized for their fashionable style as well as their outstanding leadership and contribution to society. Unlike the other beauty contest, the contestants of Mrs. Philippines will undergo a panel interview just like a usual conversation by the judges and asked about their role as a mother, a wife and a career woman.

In spite of the overloaded schedules being a doctor, Dra. Maño still manages to be a hands-on mother to her four sons and a caring wife to her husband. Being confidently beautiful inside and out, passionate about life and open minded are some of the attributes of our beloved Pedia that prove that she deserve the  crown.

On the other hand, the ZDSMC also celebrated their 8th Anniversary and Hospital Week 2016 last October 10-14 with the theme “Ospital kaagay para sa Malusog na Isip at Katawan tungo sa Pagbabago”. Several activities, which included ball games, sing and dance competition, and parlor games were carefully lined up to provide the employees an opportunity to showcased their competencies. The event was participated by all employees, nurses, doctors and other workers of the hospital and it endeavors to develop teamwork, sportsmanship and the value of camaraderie of the whole ZDSMC community. The highlight of the said celebration was the Search for Miss ZDSMC 2016 and Ms. Quennie Joy Arañez, a registered nurse assigned at the OB Department was crowned as the new Miss ZDSMC for this year.
